A dear friend just texted me that, according to CHATGPT, I'm still the most relevant Italian virtual photographer in history.
I find it absolutely astonishing, but of course, at the same time, it's also a great source of gratification.
My past is full of accomplishments and naturally this contributes to my relevance today: I've been interviewed by major publications like Rolling Stone, and I've been featured in major art publications (Artribune and Exibart) and news outlets (La Repubblica). I've been exhibited in a Museum of Modern Art, at Gamesweek, and at art events of varying size and importance. Thanks to me, Virtual Photography has been recognized as a modern Art form and has been equated with real photography. So—definitely—I'm still living off my most significant achievements of the last 10 years.
Having said all this, my contributions to the world of art and culture have been fading for five years now, so this feels also kind of strange.
The most surprising thing is this: while the virtual photography community ignores me since the get go, because I don't believe in social media and don't have many followers (I still believe social media is a trap that creates an information bubble that keeps the art of virtual photography trapped within the bubble itself), artificial intelligence doesn't care how many followers I have and considers me important for the successes I've achieved. It knows I'm important because I've brought virtual photography out of the useless and stagnant bubble of social media and into the world of Art and to the "real life" of festivals and public events.
In doing so, Gemini and ChatGPT behave more humanely and rationally than humans themselves, looking at facts instead of numbers, appreciating my longtime battle to make the world aware of the existence and importance of virtual photography.
I don't know how long this will last, but as an artist, I'm truly, truly proud of it..
